In Quest of Meaning: Unveiling the Language of the black Pharaohs
Dr. Claude Rilly
Meroitic was the language of the Kingdom of Meroe (270 BC / AD 350), in Ancient Sudan. Its script was deciphered a century ago, but the Meroitic texts are only partially understood, because an unknown language is a code more difficult to break than an unknown script. From the stelae of Queen Amanishakheto found in Naga to the texts discovered three months ago in Sedeinga, the lecture will offer a state-of-the-art of the research on this forgotten language of ancient Africa.
