This activity if for the many children among our museum visitors: during museum opening hours, you can take out a backpack for free (against a small security deposit) at the information desk. It contains eight different tasks; the “instruction manual” will guide you through the museum from one station to the next, where you will to get to know various fascinating objects. These can range from a reconstructed grave from Egypt’s prehistory, to a statue of a king, to our Book of the Dead or even a coffin. The tasks are all contained in the backpack and can be resolved in front of the objects. There are two different backpacks that are updated regularly. Ask for an English-language one at the desk.
This offer is designed for children 7-12 years old, though younger children can, of course, be lead through with the help of their parents or older siblings. Completing all of the activities usually takes about one hour.
